Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels & Resorts are expanding their partnership to launch a new Jimmy Buffett-inspired boutique resort collection.
Called St. Somewhere, the brand concept is designed to appeal to both couples and families and will “encompass the laid-back, escapist lifestyle that Margaritaville is known for, with yacht-inspired architecture and its own boutique luxury twist.”
The first resort is set to launch in fall 2021 in Isla Holbox, a small island north of the Yucatan Peninsula between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, where guests will be able to experience a tranquil, private club setting.
“The expansion of our partnership with Margaritaville with the elevated St. Somewhere brand will provide guests the ultimate exclusive escape,” said Mario Mathieu, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Design and Construction at Karisma Hotels & Resorts. “Each hotel in the new collection of boutique properties will be uniquely rooted in its destination, which will inform everything from architectural design to suite layout.”
Karisma says additional properties will be announced: “in other luxurious locations.”
The latest addition marks the second concept developed by Karisma and Margaritaville, following the debut of Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort brand in Riviera Cancun in 2020. The property's 148 guestrooms and suites have oceanfront and swim-up options, each with a balcony with Adirondack chairs or daybeds. Other amenities include four restaurants and six specialty bars, including Margaritaville’s signature concepts like License to Chill Bar and 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar, and 8,000 square feet Somewhere Spa.
Joining the portfolio, Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic will open later this year. The new build all-inclusive resort will feature 228 suites and 40 villas designed with elements inspired by the destination's surroundings. The property sits on Playa Juanillo, renowned for its miles of pristine white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters.
“This new St. Somewhere collection, starting with our first property in Isla Holbox, will bring together our signature laid-back luxury vibe with a more personalized and intimate island experience,” said Shamim Lodin, Executive Director of Hotel Development of Margaritaville. “Our relationship with Karisma Hotels & Resorts has incredible potential, creating destinations to deliver Margaritaville’s casual renowned atmosphere, top-notch amenities, and outstanding food and beverage offerings to guests.”
Karisma and Margaritaville will work with ownership and development group, Desarrollos Hacienda Puerta Azul on the project.
