Explora Journeys Unveils Details of Inaugural Destination Experiences
by Dori Saltzman
Explora Journeys has revealed details of its inaugural set of destination experiences for Explora I, which debuts this July.
The new luxury cruise line will offer eight individual sailings as part of its debut Northern European Inaugural Journeys Collection, showcasing a blend of well-known destinations, like Copenhagen and Edinburgh, with lesser-known ports, such as Leknes in Norway’s Lofoten Islands and Isafjorour in Iceland.
Excursions in each port will be limited to groups of no more than 25, with an emphasis on off-the-beaten-path encounters and a slower pace to allow guests to fully immerse themselves in each destination.
“When creating our experiences, we first need to understand the very essence of each destination, and then focus on unique ways to offer our guests the chance to immerse themselves into the local culture, taste authentic food and discovery truly hidden gems,” said Sacha Rougier, the head of itinerary planning and destination experiences at Explora Journeys.
Options will include choices such as: guided Nordic-walking in Geiranger, Norway; kayak tours of Copenhagen; helicopter flights over volcanic craters in Iceland; a mindful forest hike and meditation session in Goteborg, Sweden; a private after-hours visit to the Mauritshuis in Rotterdam; a cooking class in Lerwick in the Shetland Islands; and a dip in the Uunartoq Hot Springs in Greenland, among many others.
Explora I will be officially named on July 8, 2023 in Civitavecchia near Rome, Italy before heading to Southampton, UK for its maiden journey on July 17.
