In Dubai, Your Smartphone Can Now Act As Your Passport

by Kelly Harold / June 15, 2017

Dubai has recently unveiled the new UAEWallet app that allows UAE residents to use their smartphones to get through e-gates and passport control.

Residents departing from the Dubai International Airport are required to register personal details and provide a fingerprint for security and identity reasons.

Gulf News reported that the app has gone through security checks, making it impossible to hack or misuse.

UAE residents must not forget their actual passports at home though since Dubai is the first country in the world to launch such an app; therefore, they will still need their “hardcopy” when entering other countries.
