Air Canada Adds Non-stop Toronto-Mumbai Route
by Sarah Milner /Air Canada announced today the expansion of its service to India for the Winter 2024 to 2025 season, including the addition of Canada’s only non-stop flight to Mumbai.
The carrier’s new service includes four weekly direct flights linking Toronto to Mumbai, India’s financial and commercial center. This service will run from Oct., 2024 until Mar. 29, 2025.
Air Canada is also increasing its connectivity from Western Canada to India. During the winter season, guests can fly from Calgary to Delhi daily via London Heathrow, starting Oct. 27, 2024.
“India is an important market for Air Canada, reflecting longstanding and growing family and trade ties between our two countries,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice president – revenue and network planning at Air Canada. “We are thrilled to expand our network to Mumbai and Delhi by building additional scale at our hubs in time for Diwali festivities this fall.”
In total, Air Canada will operate 25 weekly flights to the country, including the aforementioned Toronto-Mumbai and Calgary-Delhi routes, as well as flights to Delhi from Toronto and Montreal.
Skyscanner recently reported increased interest in travel to India from Canada, noting in an April 30 statement that Canadians were booking trips to Mumbai 145% more in January and February 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
“Mumbai is an amazing destination, with a great food scene, lots of history and amazing culture,” said Laura Lindsay, Skyscanner’s travel expert. “Canadians are particularly interested in food when they travel, and they’ll love the Vada Pav and Dosa in Mumbai. I love visiting the bustling Colaba district—everyone must visit the Gateway of India while there.”
