Chun Wright will share insight and knowledge about liability waivers and intellectual property, as one of the featured experts in Travel Market Report’s Maestro series.

Wright is the owner of the Law Office of Chun T. Wright, a Washington, DC-based firm that focuses on adventure travel law. An life-long adventure traveler herself, she serves on the Advisory Board of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), as well as the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF).

“I wanted to start my own practice and in thinking of the types of clients I wanted to work with, I wanted to incorporate the passion of my personal life, which also included adventure travel,” said Wright.

“I’ve been an adventure traveler my whole life so in starting my own business I decided to incorporate travel into my legal practice.

“One of the most important lessons I’ve learned, on a personal and professional level, is that relationships are absolutely critical. Developing relationships with clients, really understanding their business, listening to their needs and helping them solve their problems, has given me a lot of perspective.”

During her session she will be offering advice on liability waivers and intellectual property, as well as helping advisors and agency owners grow by familiarizing themselves with the legal aspects of the business.

“I want to show them that the law is not something that should be intimidating, or confusing, and that embracing the legal aspect of their business is really an opportunity to enhance their business,” said Wright.

“This is the time to step back and take a look at your business from a high level and think strategically about what they need to put in place and improve when [travel] opens back up.”

She says that this period of reduced travel due to the pandemic can present an opportunity for advisors to takes stock, and lay the foundations for what they want their business to do and be.

“I would say this topic is the foundation to a strong business. This is a great opportunity to take time they would otherwise be spending booking travel, or attending to their clients’ needs, to really focus on housekeeping and doing the things they may have put off, especially from a legal standpoint.”

“It’s really important for those in the travel business, to take smart steps, including legal steps, to protect their business. This will allow them to grow and thrive. It’s worth the investment to treat your business like a business, and invest the time and resources to put best practices into place.”
