American Airlines is elevating the comfort of long-haul travel this winter, expanding its Flagship Suite experience to more destinations across three continents. Following the summer debut of its redesigned Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the carrier will introduce its newest premium product on additional routes to London, Buenos Aires, Auckland, and Brisbane.

Starting in October, select flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Chicago (ORD), and Philadelphia (PHL) will feature the luxe new seating. Meanwhile, all Chicago-London flights will operate with Flagship Suite service year-round beginning July 5, while daily flights from DFW to Brisbane and Auckland—two of American’s longest routes by distance—will launch later in the season. American remains the only airline flying both of these nonstop routes.

Each Boeing 787-9 will be outfitted with 51 Flagship Suite seats and 32 Premium Economy seats, providing ample premium capacity on routes with growing demand. In total, American will offer up to 1,500 daily premium seats to London this winter, reaffirming its position as the largest U.S. carrier to the British capital.

Available for booking starting July 7, the new Flagship Suite seat delivers a first-class experience within the business class cabin. Highlights include lie-flat seating with direct aisle access, an optional chaise lounge feature, and a suite of sleep-focused amenities such as dual-sided pillows, slippers, and fleece blankets. Later this summer, widebody flights to East Asia, the Middle East, India, Australia, and New Zealand will also introduce pajamas and mattress pads in Flagship Business.

“We’re excited to expand our newly debuted Flagship Suite seats to new long-haul destinations,” said Brian Znotins, the airline’s SVP of network and schedule planning. “In addition to giving customers more premium seat offerings in key markets, we are also expanding this product to some of our longest routes, giving travelers an elevated experience when traveling to exciting destinations.”

Travel advisors can identify Flagship Suite routes by looking for the “78P” aircraft code when booking.
