The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) will kick off its virtual Travel Industry Summit tomorrow, Nov. 12.
The event, which is free to register, features two days of content covering topics that are top of mind in today’s state of the industry. It will be emceed by Cityline TV Travel Expert and Travel Entrepreneur Lorraine Simpson.
ACTA President Wendy Paradis and Travel Agency Association Leaders will discuss the Impact of COVID-19 on travel agencies and travel agents around the world.
There will be a fireside chat, hosted by Frances McRae, Assistant Deputy Minister, Small Business and Marketplace Services at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), on how the government is supporting businesses and workers through the COVID-19. In addition, Global Affairs Canada – Consular Services will share travel advice regarding the pandemic.
Touching on how the virus has affected the airline industry, Air Canada COO Lucie Guillemette will provide updates on the carrier’s initiatives to restart air travel safely.
Celebrity Cruises CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo will discuss equality and diversity in the workplace and will share ideas, experiences and strategies on building a diverse workforce.
The keynote address will be given by G Adventures Co-Founder Bruce Poon Tip, who will address the current state of travel, and how we can navigate the new world together.
In addition to these important conversations, there will also be lifestyle sessions available to attendees over the afternoon break each day. On Day One, advisors can choose from a mid-day meditation, a 15 minute booster workout with a personal trainer, or yoga with a professional instructor. On Day Two, the lifestyle session will highlight all that Jamaica, Israel and Club Med have to offer.
ACTA will be announcing prize winners at different times throughout the two- day agenda. Travel agents must be in attendance to be eligible to win, and the more you participate during the summit, the better chance you have of winning.
