Iberostar Achieves 100% Renewable Energy Milestone in Bahia
by Daniel McCarthy /Iberostar Hotels on Thursday announced that it has officially achieved its 100% renewable energy milestone in its hotels in Bahia Brazil, a major milestone for the hotel group.
The two Iberostar hotels in Bahia are now the first in the Americas to reach the 100% renewable milestone. The hotels include more than a thousand rooms, 2,000 employees, and 181 guests per year. Iberostar Praia do Forte Complex, one of the two, has been using solar energy for select resources since 2010.
“We are delighted to announce a momentous achievement as we proudly celebrate our hotels in Brazil attaining 100% renewable sourcing. This significant milestone signifies our unwavering dedication towards our 2030 Agenda, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality across Iberostar’s global operations by 2030,” Gabriel Martorell, Director of Sustainability Governance at Iberostar, said in a statement on Thursday.
Iberostar already has achieved 100% renewable at all of its hotels in Spain and its next goal, as part of that 2030 pledge, is to do the same in Brazil. The plan, which was launched in 2020, includes becoming waste free by 2025 and carbon neutral by 2030.
