Terry Thornton Retires from Carnival After 31 Year Career

Thornton most recently served as senior vice president of nautical and port operations.

Terry Thornton has retired after more than three decades with Carnival Cruise Line.

Thornton most recently served as senior vice president of nautical and port operations. He joined Carnival Cruise Line in 1989 as manager of special projects and held numerous positions across the organization in marketing, itinerary planning and deployment. Thornton has worked in the cruise industry for more than 30 years, including prior marketing and finance positions with Norwegian Cruise Line, Sea Goddess and Windstar Cruises.

“The consummate professional with encyclopedic knowledge of every aspect of our operations, Terry quickly earned the respect of everyone who worked with him – from co-workers to port personnel and destination partners,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “His contributions to our company and industry are immeasurable. We wish him the best, knowing that he should be proud of his tremendous contribution to Carnival, and through our growth, important contributions to thousands of people who have worked for Carnival.”

Thornton is the latest longtime executive to step down from Carnival Corporation brands: Seabourn President Rick Meadows and Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford both left their posts last month.
