Viking River Cruises is opening up its 2023 sailings on the Mississippi River due to “strong demand” for the debut sailings in 2022.
Sailings including the 15-day New Orleans to St. Paul; the 8-day St. Louis to St. Paul; 8-day New Orleans to Memphis; and the 8-day New Orleans to Vicksburg and back to New Orleans, are now all available to book.
"We are very pleased at the initial response and support we have received from guests and community partners along the Mississippi River,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking. "Like me, many travelers are planning ahead for when we will once again be exploring the world in comfort – to exotic destinations as well as those closer to home. We look forward to welcoming guests as we bring modern river cruising to the Mississippi River in 2022.”
All of the itineraries will sail on the 386-guest Viking Mississippi, which the line originally announced in April 2020. The ship will sail with 193 outside staterooms, ranging from 268 square feet to 1,024 square feet. All staterooms will have a private veranda or French balcony, king-size bed with luxury linens, large glass-enclosed shower, heated bathroom floors and 24-hour room service. Suites will have two rooms and a full-size veranda off the sitting room.
In addition to the main dining room there will be two al fresco options, the River Cafe and the Aquavit Terrace on the top deck, serving casual American barbecue. There will also be a two-story Explorers’ Lounge and a 360-degree promenade deck, plus a sun terrace with an infinity plunge pool at the aft.
