Jeff Carpenter is stepping down from his role as BDM for Royal Caribbean in Western Canada.
Jeff Carpenter, Royal Caribbean’s Strategic Account Manager (SAM) for Western Canada is leaving the cruise line for a new position that will enable him to spend more time at home.
“I didn’t envision that I would be writing this post just one year later, but life is full of amazing twists and turns in this incredible journey,” Carpenter said on his Facebook page.
“With much consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my role at Royal Caribbean. After 15 years on the road, it’s time for a slightly different role in the industry that will allow for a better work/life balance that I’m very much looking forward to.”
Carpenter studied travel and tourism and did his practicum at a Marlin travel agency in an Edmonton shopping mall. He switched to a tour operator roles, joining Fun Sun Vacations, which later became part of Thomas Cook and then TravelBrands. He started out as a reservations agent, then worked in training.

In 2010 Carpenter was promoted to BDM for TravelBrands, where his tireless efforts and constant travel made him a familiar face to travel advisors across the west. After an eventful and successful first year, he has made the decision to move on to an as-yet-undisclosed role that will include less travel.
“Royal Caribbean (is) a top class organization, and I need to say a very special ‘Thank You’ to Lisa Connell for providing me this amazing opportunity! It was an incredible, record breaking year, and I’ve learned so much that I will bring with me in my next chapter. Team Canada — Eric, Maria, Nate, Mitch, Kat (Chantal & Germain) — you helped me tremendously and I have gained lifelong friends,” Carpenter wrote on Facebook.
He also had a special message for his BDM colleagues across the industry.
“To my fellow road warriors who spend countless nights away from home, you’ve been like a second family to me. Our paths will continue to cross at some conferences and events, and I look forward to still hanging out with all of you! And to all my Industry friends, stay tuned…an exciting announcement will be made soon.”
