Discovering Almare, the Luxury Collection Newest Adults-Only Resort

Almare, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive by Marriott, made its debut this past November on Isla Mujeres—a certified Pueblo Mágico just a 20-minute boat ride from Cancun. TMR had the opportunity to experience this new adults-only retreat just a few months after its opening.
Upon landing at Cancun airport, a private transfer transports you to Puerto Cancun marina, where a luxury boat awaits to take you directly to Almare’s private dock. While it might sound like a few extra steps, the whole process is seamless—less than an hour after touching down, you’ve already arrived.
Once there, the staff greet you at the dock with a chilled towel and a welcome cocktail in hand. From that very first moment, the service stands out as a true highlight: polished, attentive, and infused with warmth at every turn.

The convenience of all-inclusive, the charm of a boutique hotel
What makes Almare so appealing is its boutique hotel feel—it only has 109 rooms and suites, all with balconies and ocean views—yet it offers the convenient all-inclusive formula. On an island like Isla Mujeres, where dining are lodging options are more limited, this is a real plus.

The lobby bar is very elegant and offers mezcal tastings and creative cocktails in the evening.
For dining, there’s a rooftop Italian restaurant serving pizza and pasta (with a stunning sunset view), a Mexican restaurant (our personal favorite) open all day, and the Pool Bar, offering simple lunch dishes. There’s also a beachfront food truck with healthy options like smoothies, sandwiches, and salads.

If you choose to stay on Isla Mujeres, chances are you’re looking for peace and quiet. Unlike Cancun, the island is calm, and everyone gets around by golf cart. The resort is just far enough from the “town center” to offer complete tranquility.
You can tour the island in about 30 minutes. Isla Mujeres is under 5 miles long with Almare located in the center, making it easy to catch both sunrise at Punta Sur (the island’s southern tip) and sunset at Playa Norte (as the name suggests, on the north end).
Isla Mujeres holds the title of Pueblo Mágico, a distinction granted by the Mexican government to towns that have preserved their traditional charm and character. It is therefore very pleasant to walk around the town center, which is very colourful and vibrant.
Almare fits right in with this setting—peaceful, authentic, and full of charm.

What to do at Almare
The resort offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, beach yoga classes three times a week, a spa with a hydrotherapy circuit (complimentary for Marriott Bonvoy members), a solid menu of facial and massage treatments, and a daily activities program, including coffee and mezcal tastings, mixology workshops, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, and more.
There’s a small rooftop pool perfect for taking in the view and sunsets, while the main pool overlooks the ocean. The beach area is spacious, with plenty of cabanas and loungers—and top-notch service at all times.
