Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has officially planted its flag in Japan with the opening of Fairmont Tokyo, a striking new-build property perched across the top nine floors of the Blue Front Shibaura Tower South. Fairmont’s July 1 debut in Tokyo marks a significant milestone for the brand, introducing its distinctive blend of luxury and local flair to Japan.
Set between Tokyo Bay and the glittering Tokyo Tower, the 217-room hotel offers sweeping views in both directions, thanks to its elevated location on floors 35–43. Interiors, conceived by BAR Studio, nod to Japanese craftsmanship with subtle references to techniques like kintsugi and weaving, while natural materials and floor-to-ceiling windows foster a sense of calm and connection to place.
General manager Karan Singh said Fairmont Tokyo is “a vibrant new social hub in the heart of Tokyo,” crafted to connect guests with both the city’s heritage and its contemporary rhythm.

The opening brings with it a dynamic slate of experiences, too. It’s home to seven dining and drinking venues that anchor the hotel’s F&B offering—from Kiln & Tonic’s wood-fired brasserie fare to Migiwa’s modern sushi bar and Off Record’s speakeasy-style listening lounge. A spacious lobby lounge, Vue Mer, marries French and Japanese café culture with views of Tokyo Bay alongside curated afternoon teas.
Fairmont Tokyo also debuts the brand’s signature Fairmont Gold experience, delivering elevated service through private check-in, a dedicated lounge, and highly personalized itineraries. Wellness is another pillar of the hotel’s offerings, featuring a 65-foot indoor infinity pool, a bay-view sundeck, a fully equipped gym, and spa treatments rooted in local botanicals and traditions.
The hotel’s event and meetings footprint is robust, headlined by one of Tokyo’s largest grand ballrooms and a collection of indoor-outdoor venues on the 43rd floor. These include The Sky, ideal for weddings with panoramic views and natural light, and The Sea, a culinary-forward private event space.
With Fairmont Tokyo, the brand deepens its presence in Asia, joining properties in Singapore, Seoul, Jakarta, and beyond. For advisors booking summer stays, an opening offer includes a JPY 10,000 hotel credit per night for reservations made by July 24 for stays through Sept. 30.
