Nobu Hotels Opens First Africa Hotel
by Dori Saltzman /Nobu Hotels will open its newest – and first in Africa – hotel in Marrakech on January 23. Located in the heart of Marrakech’s “Golden Triangle,” in the Hivernage district, the all-suite boutique hotel will be a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The five-star Nobu Hotel Marrakech will play homage to the building’s past, while adding Nobu’s modern Japanese style. Highlights of the hotel include 71 spacious suites; a Nobu Restaurant and Bar; a Rooftop terrace with guest pool, restaurant and sushi bar; and one of Nobu Hotels’ largest-ever spas.
The 71 suites are split across three floors, each embodying the Japanese concept of Kokoro, which aims to create a spiritual connection to the destination.
Suites will include 44 Junior Suites, six Deluxe Junior Suites, 18 Deluxe One-Bedroom Suites, two Miyabi Suites, and one Nobu Suite, all with views of North Africa’s Atlas Mountain range or Koutoubia, Marrakech’s biggest mosque.
The Rooftop will be centered around a circular pool and boast 360-degree views of the city including the old walls surrounding the Medina district. The Rooftop restaurant will feature a Nobu sushi bar, as well as a daily selection of Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes.
The Nobu Restaurant and Bar will feature Nobu signature dishes including Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, which will be served alongside new dishes created by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, using locally-sourced flavors and ingredients.
