Mission Statement
Travel Market Report is an online business publication that serves as an independent forum and voice for retail travel sellers in North America. We provide in-depth coverage and analysis of news and trends affecting leisure and corporate travel agents, along with practical business advice and insights into key growth markets. The editors are guided by an independent Editorial Advisory Board whose members represent a cross-section of the retail travel industry in North America. Launched in 2009 by American Marketing Group, Travel Market Report delivers news updates by email to over 60,000 subscribers.

Anne Marie Moebes

As the Publisher of Travel Market Report, a daily online business publication, Anne Marie oversees its management, administration and marketing partnerships. Serving as ‘the advocate and voice of today’s travel professional,’ Travel Market Report is one of the leading travel trade publications. As an independent forum and information source for travel professionals, Travel Market Report covers breaking travel news as well as editorial on retail strategies, leisure and business travel, meetings, technology and health and wellness travel. Under Anne Marie’s guidance, it is staffed by some of the most well-known travel trade journalists in the industry. Travel Market Report is one of three global travel companies that Anne Marie manages under the American Marketing Group umbrella; she is also responsible for Acclaim Meetings and Well-Being Travel.

Anne Marie brings 30 years of experience in travel agency operations to her current role. Throughout the span of her career, she has held senior management positions with the prestigious ASTA organization, TRAVELSAVERS and Alamo Rent-A-Car; she is also a former travel agency owner. Her experience covers everything from integrated marketing and promotions to strategic planning, loyalty/rewards programs, sales development, branding, training and e-commerce.

Barbara Peterson

Barbara Peterson has been writing about the travel business for more than 25 years, with a focus on the airline industry, airports and aviation security. Her work has appeared in Conde Nast Traveler, Consumer Reports, the Wall Street Journal, Meetings & Conventions, and other media outlets.  Previously, she was aviation editor for Travel Weekly and a columnist for Frequent Flyer and Diversion magazines.  She is winner of the Lowell Thomas Award for Investigative Reporting and the Gene DuBois Award for Excellence in Travel and Aviation Reporting, and has written three books, including BLUE STREAK: Inside JetBlue, the Upstart that Rocked an Industry (Penguin Portfolio, 2004.)  She lives in Westchester County, New York.

Brian Israel

Brian Israel- Associate Publisher of Travel Market Report. Brian joined the TMR team in February of 2019 to lead Travel Market Report’s sales efforts. Brian has 20+ years’ experience in travel media working on both the trade and consumer side of Publishing and has developed a wealth of experience across print, digital, custom content and events. Brands include Travel + Leisure, Bon Appetit, Saveur, Travel Agent Magazine and Travel Weekly. Along with Brian’s extensive media experience he has also managed several high level Travel Advisor Advisory Boards throughout his career giving him excellent insight into the agent community across all consortia.

Denise Caiazzo has been dedicated to the travel industry for more than 25 years. She has served as an editor and writer at top-tier B2C and B2B travel publications. She has also worked with leading travel companies - including American Express, The Peninsula Hotels, Budget Rent a Car, Visa, Travelsavers, and the World Travel & Tourism Council - as a public relations executive and marketing consultant. Throughout the years in her editorial and consulting positions, Denise and her teams have been honored with such awards as the PRSA Silver Anvil (the Oscar of the public relations industry), HSMAI Awards, and Magellan Awards.

Marilee Crocker is a business and travel trade journalist who has covered the travel and meeting planning industries for various publications since the 1980s. She was managing editor of Travel Weekly and Meetings & Conventions magazine, and a senior contributing editor to Travel Professional. Marilee's in-depth reporting on industry and consumer trends has earned her multiple editorial accolades, including Folio Gold and Silver awards for excellence in reporting. Her interest in home-based business inspired Marilee to launch biz@home, a twice-monthly newspaper column that ran for many years and was nationally syndicated. Marilee lives on Cape Cod.

She writes the daily www.girlahead.com travelog, she has a weekly column on HOTELS magazine and she owns and writes the definitive monthly Gostelow Report market intelligence newsletters.  She is global ambassador for International Luxury Travel Markets ILTMs.

Paul M. Ruden

Paul M. Ruden is the former Executive Vice President for Legal & Industry Affairs for the American Society of Travel Agents, where he was responsible for all of ASTA’s internal and external legal activities, industry policy issues, state and federal legislation, consumer affairs, and media activity. Ruden also served as Acting Chief Operating Officer of ASTA for periods in 1992 and 1998-1999.

 

 He is the author of “Competition in the Distribution of Travel Services — The Future of Travel Agents,” an economic study published by ASTA in January, 1997, and authored and edited the ASTA Travel Agent Manual (1990, 1995). He also wrote “Distribution Dilemmas,” in the Handbook of Airline Marketing, McGraw-Hill (1998), and “Competitive Issues Arising from the Orbitz Joint Venture,” in Air & Space Lawyer, American Bar Association (Spring, 2001).

 

 In June, 2001, the Speaker of the House of Representatives appointed Ruden one of the nine commissioners of the National Commission to Ensure Consumer Information and Choice in the Airline Industry. In 2001 he also served on the Department of Transportation Air Carrier On-time Reporting Advisory Committee. In 2008, by appointment of the Secretary of Transportation, he served on the DOT National Task Force to Develop Model Contingency Plans to Deal with Lengthy Airline On-Board Ground Delays.

 

Prior to joining ASTA in 1990, Ruden was in private law practice in Washington, DC for nineteen years. He was retained by ASTA in 1979 for the final deregulation case directed at the travel agency‑airline relationship, the Investigation into the Competitive Marketing of Air Transportation. Ruden worked as a Trial Attorney at the Civil Aeronautics Board from 1967 to 1969. Ruden graduated from Yale University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude degree and earned a J.D. degree from the Harvard Law School in 1967.

Steve Gillick

Steve Gillick loves to travel and loves to talk to people who love to talk about travel. He’s been at it since 1967 when he visited nine European destinations on a school trip.

 

Steve worked for an educational tour company, and then as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors.

 

In 2012 Steve founded Talking Travel, a consultancy with the goal of coaching travel professionals to effect client growth and retention, along with career satisfaction. He’s delivered keynotes, seminars, workshops and webinars across North America and Internationally.

 

Steve is a monthly columnist for Travel Industry Today and Travel Market Report.  His destination-based consumer articles have appeared in Dreamscapes Travel and Lifestyle Magazine, Canadian World Traveller and others.

 

To date, Steve has explored 82 countries and territories, covering over 675 destinations.

Editorial Advisory Board

Travel Market Report’s Editorial Advisory Board was established in 2011 to provide the editors with the uncensored input and guidance of industry leaders. The Board supports Travel Market Report in fulfilling its charter as the Voice of the Travel Seller.

The Advisory Board meets quarterly with Travel Market Report editors to:

  • Provide feedback and ideas about overall editorial content and direction
  • Recommend story ideas, areas of coverage, and website improvements
  • Explore how Travel Market Report might better serve as an advocate and resource for readers.

The Advisory Board is made up of travel sellers who represent a cross-section of the travel agency industry. Members serve at the invitation of Travel Market Report for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
