ASTA Program Highlights Registered Traveller and Global Entry Programs
Since its launch in November, the Global Entry program has attracted 8,000 applications for membership—and the feedback has been positive, representatives said at an ASTA webinar today.
The webinar highlighted how the Global Entry and Registered Traveller programs can speed up the process of international travel to the United States and the United Kingdom.
Global Entry allows citizens of the U.K., German, Netherlands, Panama, South Korea, and Mexico to enter the U.S. without waiting in lines or processing paperwork. Canadian citizens and residents are eligible for Global Entry benefits through membership in the NEXUS program.
The program is open to all ages, but comes with a $100 application fee.
Its counterpart, the Registered Traveller program, allows travelers to access U.K./EU entry lanes without having to fill out a landing card. Eligible countries are Canada, Hong Kong (only with a Special Administrative Region passport), Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan (only if your passport has your personal ID number on the photo page), and the United States.
Travelers must be over 18 and have a visa, or have visited the U.K. at least four times. Enrollment costs $100 a year.
