ASTA Rallies For The Passage Of NYS Insurance Licensing Bill
by Anna Gleksman /This week the New York State Senate unanimously passed the NYS Insurance Licensing for Travel Agents bill, which will allow travel agents selling insurance to be covered under their insurance provider’s license, as opposed to needing their own license in every state in which they have customers. The bill now will go before the New York State Assembly.
Long Island ASTA is supporting the bill, sending around links and a sample letter travel agents can use to contact their local Assembly members in support of the bill.
ASTA and the U.S. Travel Insurance Association (USTIA) have spent five years trying to replace the current system with this new NAIC/NCOIL standard. To date, it has been adopted by 42 states plus the District of Columbia.
