Cuba Vote Held Up In House
The vote to approve a bill that would lift all Cuba travel restrictions was held up because of the gun control protest “sit-in” by Democrats in the House of Representatives.
The amendment, which passed on an uncontested voice vote in the Senate, would allow Americans unfettered access to Cuba and “make it possible for Americans to travel to Cuba without the interference of their own government,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the top Democrat on the committee that approved the bill.
The vote could come when Congress is back in session on July 5.
