Delta Expands Waiver Policy, Begins Reopening Sky Clubs
by Daine Taylor /
As demand for air travel continues to steadily increase, Delta Air Lines is once again extending its change fee waiver for new flights purchased through July 31, giving customers the opportunity to change their plans without a fee for a year from the date of purchase.
Those who booked travel between April 17 and Sept. 30, 2020, will be able to rebook through Sept. 30, 2022.
The airline is also updating its beverage offerings to resume serving complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails to passengers on long-haul international flights, and top-shelf liquor and wine selections for Delta One customers. On-board service adjustments like individual snack bags on domestic flights and other U.S. domestic offerings will remain in place.
Delta Sky Clubs begin to reopen
Delta will begin reopening select Delta Sky Club locations this month with a series of new protective measures.
Sky Club facilities in Chicago O’Hare (E Concourse), Denver, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix, and San Francisco will join Clubs that are already operating as they reopen throughout July, with additional locations expected to reopen as travel increases over the coming months.
Club capacity is limited, and designated seating areas have been reserved for families traveling together. Those in the Sky Club will also be required to wear a mask.
Food buffets have been modified with grab & go style, individually?packaged fresh food options like yogurt, fruit, muffins, pastries, salads, hummus and pita chips, and sandwiches. Plexiglass partitions have also been added at check-in, at the bar, and between café tables.
The airline is also extending its Delta Clean protocols to include its Sky Club locations, to help keep passengers safe and feeling at ease. Delta has reduced commonly used touchpoints to reduce the chances of contamination, provided hand sanitizer and face masks for employees and guests, implemented enhanced cleaning with electrostatic spray and regular cleaning of high use areas, and limiting club capacity to allow for adherence to social distancing guidelines.
