Haimark Cancels All Future Sailings

The turmoil-ridden history of the Haimark Line has taken another turn, as the bankrupt cruise line has canceled all future sailings.
The line has started the process of refunding guests for all payments for future cruises through an escrow agent according to the Federal Maritime Commission (though it is not refunding air travel or hotel expenses).
Haimark originally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 30, 2015.
Haimark only had one ship in operation, the 210-passenger Saint Laurent, which debuted last May. The ship experienced trouble almost immediately, crashing into a lock in the St. Lawrence Seaway just weeks after its first sailing.
Haimark blamed the bankruptcy filing on the crash, explaining that it was dealing with insurance issues after the accident.
When a private-equity firm bought Haimark in January, president Hans Rood said it would go ahead with its planned sailings, and the ship was scheduled to start Cuban sailings out of Miami in February. But those voyages were canceled after the bankruptcy continued.
