Marriott International this week announced an expansion deeper into one of Asia’s most trendy destinations, Vietnam, with plans for three new hotels in the country.

The three additions will include the debut of two new brands in Vietnam—Ritz-Carlton Reserve and the Luxury Collection—along with Marriott’s third JW property in the country. All of them continue Marriott’s expansion into the luxury sector, in particular. The resorts are:

  • Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Hon Thom Island, which will open in 2028. This property is being built on an estate close to the south sip of Hon Thom Island, and Marriott says it will be a “complete escape” into a “world of luxury and natural beauty.” The plans include 40 pool villas, two different resort pools, a spa, a salon, a fitness center, three restaurants, three bars, a 3000 sq. meter event space, and more.
  • JW Marriott Trang An Resort & Spa will also open in 2028. The hotel is being built amid the area’s wetlands and hills, with plans for 150 guestrooms and suits along with 35 one- and two-bedroom villas. Marriott is also planning two different restaurants, a café, a lobby lounge, two bars, two pools, a signature Spa by JW, and a 500 sq. meter ballroom.
  • The Luxury Collection Resort, Hon Thom Island, which will open in 2029. The hotel will include 305 rooms and suites, ranging from 50 to 250 sq. meters. Plans also include two pool areas, a kids club, six restaurants and bars, and almost 1,700 sq. meters of event space.

“We are delighted to continue expanding our portfolio in Vietnam, particularly in the luxury space,” said Rajeev Menon, President for Asia Pacific (excluding China) of Marriott International. “Vietnam is a growing market for luxury travel, with rising demand from both international and domestic sectors…These signings further underscore our commitment to the future of hospitality and luxury in Vietnam.”

Vietnam, and Asia in general, have garnered a lot of attention for 2024 as consumers look elsewhere after this year’s boom in Europe was marked by heavy crowds, high prices, and summer heat. Some cities inside Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay, have been spotlighted as one of the top destinations for 2024 by publications such as Forbes.
