Norwegian Names First Chinese Cruise Liner
Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the name for its first purpose-built cruise liner for the Chinese market. What it is calling “the most innovative ship ever styleed exclusively for Chinese guests” will be named Norwegian Joy—translating into Chinese as (Xi Yuè Hào)—when it debuts in China in summer 2017.
Norwegian has consulted with Chinese partners and local experts while planning the new ship, which will be able to hold 3,900 guests. The ship’s homeport has not yet been released but Norwegian did say that the cuisine and onboard experiences will cater to the preferences of Chinese cruisers.
Norwegian also revealed that when it officially enters the Chinese market in 2017, it will do so under a new name and logo. The new name will represented by the Chinese characters (Nuò Wéi Zhen), translating as a “Promising, Exclusive, and Authentic” cruise line.
