Park Hyatt to Add Two New Mexico Properties
by Doug Gollan /Park Hyatt is coming to Mexico with two properties. It will be the eighth of Hyatt’s 13 brands to be present in the country with properties in Los Cabos and Mexico City. The announcement was made during ILTM Americas being held at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya.
Currently, Park Hyatt operates 40 hotels worldwide and is the company’s top luxury offering, the idea of owner Jay Pritzker who wanted to create a boutique hotel experience similar to what he found in Europe. The first Park Hyatt dates to 1980 in Chicago.
Los Cabos is set to open in 2020 and will feature two miles of beach within the Cabo del Sol golf community. It will feature 162 rooms and 28 residence and is part of a massive influx of luxury flags to the Pacific destination. Montage, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis and Four Seasons all have projects due to open there.
The second Park Hyatt will open in Mexico City in early 2021, connected to the Hyatt Regency in the Polanco area with 155 rooms and 23 residences. Hyatt currently has 16 properties in Mexico.
Separately, the long-awaited Park Hyatt in St. Kitts will open Nov. 1, the brand’s first hotel in the Caribbean. Across its brands, Hyatt has 731 properties with 300 more in the pipeline.
