Peninsula Adds Experiential Programs In Time For Summer
by Doug Gollan /Peninsula Hotels is launching new programs and expanding others that provide guests interesting experiences and preferred access in time for the summer, vice president of marketing Robert Cheng announced during a press briefing on opening day of ILTM Asia, which being held in Shanghai.
After strong response to its Keys to the City program in Chicago, the offering is being expand to Paris now and Beijing later this year, as that property celebrates the completion of a top-to-bottom renovation. Guests in the Windy City get a behind-the-scenes kitchen tour and meet the chef at award-winning restaurant Grace, as well as a private tour of the wine cellar and an insider discussion on how top restaurants build their collections. There is fast-track access at the Art Institute of Chicago, while patrons of Broadway in Chicago get access into the VIP Suite.
During June, the group is partnering with some of the top-line luxury brands that have boutiques in its hotels for a promotion titled Legendary Artisans. In Hong Kong, for example, a special travel collection of leather goods in the same green color as the hotel group's famed Rolls Royce cars has been created. In Shanghai, the hotel will offer a Harry Winston-inspired afternoon tea.
For families, Peninsula Academy will introduce new programs for the summer. In Beverly Hills, budding stars will learn how movies are made, get a starring role in their own big-screen production, and have a chance to see how it feels to walk the red carpet for their own premier.
In other notes, the long-awaited Fifth Avenue Suite is due to open this summer in New York, while Beverly Hills will get a new Silver Suite. Cheng also confirmed progress on its upcoming hotels in Yangon, Istanbul, and London. This year marks the group's 150th anniversary.
