August 21, 2017, will mark the beginning of the cheapest week for summer fares for U.S. domestic and international travel.
With the fall season quickly approaching, airlines are prompted to lower their fares during the last weeks of summer before children go back to school.
The cheap day for international flights, August 21, falls on a Monday,as weekdays are generally cheaper than weekends for flying to Europe. August 22 falls on a Tuesday, which is one of the cheapest days for domestic flights, along with Wednesday and Saturday.
Savings vary depending on departure and destination cities, and whether routes are non-stops or connections, but generally you can save an average of 11% to 20% compared to summer ticket prices.
