Virgin Voyages Makes a Splash in the Med With Resilient Lady

by Brittany Chrusciel  May 22, 2023

Ready your client for a Hot Ship Summer. Virgin Voyages’ newest ship is here, and with her the 2,700-passenger Resilient Lady is bringing renewed brilliance and resilience to the European summer vacation.

Avoid the energy-depleting logistics of multi-leg travel by booking a sailing in the dazzling Mediterranean on Virgin Voyages. Sailors embark in Athens for a week of island hopping, with stops in ancient Turkey as well as an overnight in party capital Mykonos. Or sail away from the shores of Greece to three ports in trendy Croatia. No additional flights, no rental cars, no hotel hopping — no added hassle.

Across itineraries like Greek Island Glow and Adriatic Sea & Greek Gems, Resilient Lady adds seven new ports to the Virgin Voyages portfolio, including Rhodes, Dubrovnik and Corfu. Sailors can choose from excursions that will engross them in each port, like a traditional Turkish bath experience in Bodrum or a Croatian cooking class in Split.

Clients will wake up to the blue-and-white vision of Santorini from the comfort of their Sea Terrace cabin (balcony hammock included). A whopping 86 percent of cabins onboard Resilient Lady have private balconies, a feature well suited to scenic sail-ins or a sundown glass of rosé with a romantic view of the sparkling Aegean Sea.

Onboard, Resilient Lady introduces new dining and entertainment concepts to keep the good vibes going. Razzle Dazzle by Night is an energetic evening of Chef Eric Kim Haugen’s signature American dishes with a dash of quirk and sophistication. Think: Nashville hot cauliflower as a starter and a short-rib pastrami for the table.

Five original shows debut onboard Resilient Lady, offering sailors the spice of life. Try a five-course immersive menu over music and acrobatics at Another Rose, a dinner party that “tells the tale of a life lived without inhibitions,” according to its producer and American playwright Randy Weiner. Another night, why not pop into Lola’s Library, fusing comedy, music and dance in three chapters so guests can catch a quick show or stay for the entire ride.

A more “traditional” stage performance is given by the Resilient Lady cast of “Persephone,” which takes place in a rock ‘n’ roll underworld and promises a sexy and modern retelling of the Greek myth (perfect for the itinerary).

Also sublimely suited to a sailing in the Med is the all-new Opa Hour. Toast to a successful vacation each day with Aperitivo Hour at The Dock House, a Mediterranean restaurant, or out under the sun at The Dock, an outdoor mezze lounge. Greek flavors are celebrated at this daily gathering over cocktails and bites.

As with the other ships in the Virgin Voyages fleet, Resilient Lady is exclusively adult, leaving the kids back on shore in summer camp. Another distinction of Virgin Voyages is its inclusions, which incorporate all gratuities; dining in any of the ship’s 20-plus venues; Wi-Fi access; fitness classes such as boxing; nonalcoholic beverages like soda; inventive nightlife; and down-to-earth service. Jennifer Lopez serves as godmother to the entire fleet in her role as Investor and Chief Entertainment and Lifestyle Officer.
