You’re Invited to Sydney WorldPride 2023
All eyes are on Sydney for WorldPride 2023, and you’re invited! Welcoming the world’s LGBTQIA+ community and its allies for a celebration of queer culture, each week will hold its own special events, alongside the parties that have made Sydney Mardi Gras a must-do on the global LGBTQIA+ calendar.
As a Sydney WorldPride approved travel provider, Goway has created two extensive group packages, each containing some of WorldPride’s hottest tickets. Added in are some of our favourite Sydney experiences, including the famous Sydney Bridgeclimb, a sightseeing lunch cruise on Sydney harbour, a tour and lunch at Sydney Opera House, and a progressive fine dining tour with a well-connected local. It’s the perfect introduction to all that’s great about New South Wales, with time between tours and parties to explore Sydney, or enjoy the WorldPride festivities around Oxford Street.
Sydney didn’t earn its global reputation as an LGBTQIA+ destination for nothing. By the 1990s, Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ community and its party scene had become legendary. Chief among its offerings was Mardi Gras, one magical late summer night headlined by the world’s biggest night-time LGBTQ+ parade, and a dance party that has attracted artists the caliber of Kylie Minogue, George Michael, and Cher. Since then, it has grown into Australia’s biggest annual LGBTQIA+ festival.
In 2023, Mardi Gras joins with WorldPride to host a bigger party than ever. After two years of socially distanced parades, Mardi Gras Parade returns home to Oxford Street, where it will be the centrepiece of the biggest LGBTQIA+ festival calendar Sydney has ever seen. Surrounding the big night, two weeks of dance parties, entertainment, and activism will light up the Harbour City.
Domain Dance Party is set to be the largest circuit dance event in Australia with over 10,000 LGBTQIA+ folk and their allies dancing under the open sky in Sydney’s Domain. This is also the venue for the closing Rainbow Revolution party, and the opening Loud and Proud concert, hosted by Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan and drag superstar Courtney Act. Among the performers will be Australia’s favourite pop princess, Kylie Minogue.
Speaking of Aussie icons, Bondi Beach will come alive for one incredible evening with a dance party on its sands. Tickets to this event are sold out, but Goway group travellers who book by November 20 will have access to a special allocation. On the closing day of WorldPride, a 50,000 strong crowd will come together in an historic Pride March across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The bridge has not been closed for a march in over 20 years, making this a chance to be part of history. Prospective marchers must enter a ballot ahead of time for one or two tickets, with a timed entry being allocated to successful entrants in January.
Travellers bound for Sydney WorldPride can choose which Goway GroupsOnly package is right for them. Opening Week includes the Loud and Proud concert, Domain Dance Party, and the chance to be in town for the Mardi Gras Parade. Closing Week includes the sold-out Bondi Beach Party, Rainbow Revolution closing party, a Bondi neighbourhood tour, hop-on hop-off bus tour, and the chance to enter the ballot to join the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pride March.
