Intrepid Relaunches Cycling Tours for 2023

Intrepid, the cultural immersion tour operator, has officially relaunched its cycling tours.

Intrepid is now offering over 30 different cycling-focused tours, all with a sustainable focus, in 27 countries on five different continents. The additions come as Intrepid sees a boost in interest in cycling booking in 2022, 70% of which came from first-time-Intrepid guests.

“Riding a bike is good for you, even factoring in the odd gelato or Tuscan cellar door pitstop, but it’s also good for the environment,” said Intrepid Travel Product Manager Frank Cheshire. “Like all our trips, our cycling tours are 100% carbon offset. Most of the transport is powered by the greenest energy of all: humans.”

Intrepid’s 2023 cycling tours now include:

  • A new 8-day ‘Cycle Slovenia’ trip that takes guests from Ljubljana to Pira, riding the winding road with views of the slopes of Kranjska Gora, the emerald-green waters of the Soca River, and the Adriatic coastline.
  • A 15-day ‘Cycle Vietnam’ trip, which was Intrepid’s first and most popular cycling trip. This tour takes guests from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and includes opportunities to meet with locals and indulge in Vietnam cuisine.
  • An 8-day ‘Cycle the Danube’ tour, which takes guests from Vienna to Budapest, passing through Slovakia with stops at sites including the Esztergom Basilica and the Schönbrunn Palace.
  • A 13-day ‘Cycle Tanzania’ trip takes guests down the Great Rift Valley, far off the track to trails where no cars can go.

According to Intrepid, global bicycle sales rose 68% worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic and more travelers are looking to support green-friendly travel options.

For advisors wanting training, Intrepid currently has a Specialist Program where advisors can watch pre-recorded trainings and receive an Intrepid Specialist certificate, which will be getting a refresh this year. It also plans for a separate Intrepid Polar Specialist certification.

And for advisors who want to experience the product first-hand, Intrepid has two FAM trips planned for later this year: Morocco in September and Thailand in November. Advisors can apply here.
