Air Travel To The U.S. From Toronto Pearson Airport Streamlined
by Richard D'Ambrosio /Travelers flying to the United States from Toronto Pearson International Airport will find improved passenger flow, more spacious and accommodating surroundings, and greater automation as the fourth- busiest entry point has opened a new facility to process U.S.-bound passengers.
Located in Pearson’s Terminal 1, and under renovation for about two years, the facility was designed to process about 95% of all passengers using Automated Passport Control kiosks instead of fliers having to que up to customs agents.
Pearson processes about 5.6 million passengers flying from Toronto to the U.S. each year.
Preclearance has been in place at Toronto Pearson for more than 60 years, but has relied on travelers being screened by U.S. customs agents. Toronto Pearson is one of seven Canadian airports with CBP US preclearance facilities.
