Carnival Cruise Line Names ‘Wheel of Fortune’s’ Vanna White as Godmother for Panorama

Vanna White, the longtime hostess of “Wheel of Fortune,” will serve as the godmother for Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship, Carnival Panorama, when the ship is christened on Dec. 10 in Long Beach, California.
“Vanna has been that welcoming face, cheering on and watching over “Wheel of Fortune” contestants for decades, and we love the fact that Vanna will be doing the same for Carnival Panorama, her guests and crew, as the ship’s godmother,” Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said in a statement.
“Every night, millions of Americans welcome Vanna into their homes. She is beloved. What other game show hostess has earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has been inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame? And she’s got the most famous wardrobe on television!”
White started her career on "Wheel of Fortune" in 1982 and has been a staple on the show ever since.
The ship, which was completed at the Fincantieri shipyard earlier this month and is currently on its way to Long Beach for its naming ceremony, is the first Carnival ship to be deployed to the West Coast in 20 years.
Among other things, Panorama will feature the first Sky Zone trampoline park at sea and a first-in-the-fleet cooking studio that offers guests hands-on classes, tastings, and more.
The ship will also sport many of the features of its sister ships, Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, including the Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse, Library Bar, Bonsai Sushi, SkyRide, Waterworks aqua park, and the SportSquare recreation area.
