Cunard’s QM2 Refit Includes Tribute Restaurant
When Cunard debuts the Queen Mary 2 after its refit in June, 2016, it will also be relaunching the Verandah restaurant, exactly 80 years after the first Verandah Grill sailed with the original Queen Mary in 1936. The new restaurant, which will replace the Todd English restaurant onboard, will “evoke the special personality and flavor of French regional cooking with seasonal influences,” Cunard said.
The original Verandah Grills were exclusive to first-class guests and offered private dinner settings for the likes of Winston Churchill, Fred Astaire, Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo, and Elizabeth Taylor.
