Find Online Inspiration With These Social Network Ideas

by Sophie Bujold  October 17, 2014

Following is the latest in a series of guest columns on achieving social media success.

I’m almost certain that, at one point, you’ve wondered what on Earth you should be talking about on your social network of choice. It happens to the best of us.

Next time you run into the posting blahs online, consider these eight things to post:

1.    Client questions
Questions you find yourself answering over and over again are the perfect material for social media posts. If you’re lucky, it could also prompt your fans to ask you more questions and start to engage with you online.

2.    Personal fun fact
Everyone loves a good bit of trivia, and it is even better to add in personality by sharing information about yourself or a team member.

3.    Trip stories or photos
On days when inspiration is low, dig deep into your personal adventures to bring out a story, video or photo. Many travel professionals report that when they share these types of personal tidbits, they pick up a few extra clients they wouldn’t have otherwise.

4.    Client feature
Have you ever received an email from a client telling you how great their trip was? If so, use it as an opportunity to feature your client (with permission) online. It acts as a testimonial for your business and can be entertaining at the same time.

5.    Team member spotlight
If you have a team member that you love, it’s totally fine – and encouraged – to give them some airtime. This can look like a short introduction to who they are and what they do, or you can feature something like their favorite quote, book, recipe or vacation.

6.    Travel tips
Most travel experts I know have a collection of tips they provide clients before they travel. Grab your tip sheet and pick a tip to share at random. Why reinvent the wheel?

7.    Presentation tidbits
Put your presentations to new use by going through them and picking out small sharable nuggets. You’d be amazed how many tidbits you can collect from a single slide deck!

8.    Ask a question
Most people love to share their thoughts on almost anything. Make your question extra useful by tying it into something you’ve wanted to know about your fans for a while. Just make sure the question is easy to answer in just a few words. You’ll typically get more engagement that way.

Feeling confident about your content, but still struggling to get results? Make sure you have the 3 key ingredients you need for social success.
