Low Water Levels Causes AmaWaterways to Change Schedule

November 06, 2015

The newest ship from AmaWaterways, the AmaKristina, will not sail its planned route on the Elbe river. Low water levels will prevent the ship, which is set to launch on April 1, 2017, from sailing on the German river. Instead it will sail on the Main, Rhine, and Danube rivers.

AmaWaterways isn’t the first line to move a ship due to low water levels on the Elbe. Early in the year, Viking moved guests on the Viking Beyla’s November sailing mid-way through the cruise due to water levels. Other river cruises—including more from Viking, Avalon Waterways, and Uniworld—have all been affected by low water levels on European rivers in the past few months.
