Lufthansa First European Airline To Enter PreCheck
by Daniel McCarthyLufthansa will become the first European-based carrier to allow its fliers to use the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) PreCheck program starting this Wednesday.
Lufthansa travelers who are enrolled in PreCheck now can use the PreCheck lanes at airport security checkpoints around the United States, and go through security without taking off their shoes, belts or light jackets and removing laptops and 3-1-1 compliant bags from their carry-ons.
Lufthansa joins 12 U.S.-based carriers who voluntarily joined the program—including United, JetBlue, Southwest, Delta and American.
Since its inception in 2011, more than 55 million travelers have used TSA PreCheck. It’s available at 160 U.S. airports, and costs $85 for a five-year enrollment.
