by Travel Market Report /
Daniel McCarthy has been named as editor of Travel Market Report effective immediately and Kerry Tice will join October 2 as managing editor. McCarthy replaces Cheryl Rosen, who retired as editor on August 30, and remains editor-at-large for the publication. Additionally, Denise Caiazzo joins as copy editor.
“We are excited about being able to promote internally and continue our expansion and commitment to providing high-quality editorial content that serves as the voice of the travel professional,” said Executive Vice President and Publisher Anne Marie Moebes in announcing the moves. “Dan has taken on an increasingly larger role during his tenure here, and Cheryl’s retirement presented this opportunity to continue that track.”
Rosen, a veteran travel and business editor, served as editor for two years, during which unique monthly visitor totals grew by 222%. “Cheryl and her team have led Travel Market Report to extraordinary new heights over the past 24 months, and while Cheryl takes a step back, we are delighted she will remain an integral part of our team and that our team is continuing to grow,” said Moebes.
McCarthy has been with Travel Market Report for two-and-a-half years and was promoted to senior editor earlier this year. He is a graduate of Boston University College of Communications with a Masters in Journalism from University of London. Prior to joining Travel Market Report, he contributed to The New York Daily News, Sunday Independent and Boston Globe.
Tice is an award-winning travel writer, editor and production manager with more than 20 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry. She is the former managing editor of the weekly trade publication, Leisure Travel News; as well as a contributing journalist to the International Pow Wow Dailies, published by the U.S. Travel Association. She has worked for the past 10 years as an independent contractor, during which time she oversaw the project management of dozens of thought leadership whitepapers published by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
In an additional appointment, Caiazzo joins as copy editor. She is an award-winning journalist, editor and marketing consultant who has specialized in the travel industry for more than 20 years of her 30-year career, including serving as VP of Communications for American Marketing Group, parent of TMR; as well as senior editor for The Affluent Traveler Magazine, Journeys Magazine, and various other publications designed to empower travel agents to increase their sales
and profitability.
“Travel Market Report has developed a growing, loyal readership of top-producing, leisure-focused travel agents by providing high-quality editorial representing the interests of our readership of retail travel agents, eschewing link-bait sensationalism and rewriting supplier press releases. I am excited that Dan and Kerry will now be leading our growing team as we continue to focus daily on our commitment to serving our travel agent readers,” Moebes said.
“This is a great opportunity. Retail travel agents demonstrate their value to travelers every day. When things go wrong, they save the day, and every day they work tirelessly to organize trips that create lifetimes of dreams and memories for their customers,” said McCarthy.
“Travel Market Report has clearly established itself as the preferred editorial source for high-selling, leisure-focused travel advisors, and I am excited to have the opportunity to join this team,” Tice added.
