Oceania Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line Holding's upper premium cruise line will sail more than 20 voyages out of New York’s City West Side cruise terminal next year.
Insignia, the 680-plus passenger ship, will homeport and sail round-trip from New York to New England, Canada, Bermuda, Greenland and Iceland in 2017, including itineraries like the 10-day Cottages, Coves and Coasts sailing and the 11-Day Seaside Medley sailing.
The sailings include overnight calls in New York City; Charleston, SC; Reykjavik, Iceland; St. George, Bermuda; and Hamilton, Bermuda. According to Oceania, the overnight port calls were chosen “to offer unique opportunities for culinary, historical and cultural immersion.”
Insignia entered service in 1998 for Renaissance cruises before being absorbed into the Oceania fleet in 2006. The ship features four open-seating restaurants, a fitness center and spa, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 342 staterooms, 70% of which feature private verandas.
In a statement, Bob Binder, who was just recently named president and CEO of Oceania Cruises in September, said that the ship is “the perfect match for New York, and New York is the perfect match for Oceania Cruises.”
