Pearl Seas Cruises may be down, but it's not out. The cruise line is moving forward with plans to operate Cuba cruises from Fort Lauderdale, FL, and expects to have Cuban government approval to launch the sailings in October.
The line had planned to begin its Cuba program aboard the 210-guest Pearl Mist starting in March, but failed to receive the nod from Cuban officials. Scheduled cruises were canceled one by one in recent weeks, as the line held out hope that approval was forthcoming. Most recently it canceled a 10-night trip that was to depart on April 25.
A spokeswoman for the line told TMR that customers booked on all of its canceled cruises have received full refunds. Pearl Seas Cruises is a venture by the owners of American Cruise Lines, based in Guilford, CT.
