Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotels will open its first property outside of the U.S. in Edinburgh, the company announced this week.
The hotel is set to open in 2020. It will be built on Victoria Street in Edinburgh, taking over the space previously occupied by the India Buildings.
Branson, who said his grandparents were from Edinburgh, called the Scottish capital a “great city” and said “we can't wait to open our doors to people across the country and, indeed, the world."
Each Virgin hotels offers free WiFi, no cancellation fees, free early check-in and late check-out, and social hours for hotel guests.
The brand was officially launched in 2010 and currently has one property open in Chicago. More hotels are planned for San Francisco, Nashville, New York, New Orleans, Silicon Valley, Dallas, and Palm Springs.
