Transat Hotels Division Appoints President

by Richard D'Ambrosio

Transat has appointed longtime international resort veteran Jordi Solé as president of its new hotel division, effective February 20, leading the group’s efforts to operate 5,000 rooms by 2025.

Solé began his career in the industry in 2001 in Spain as deputy managing director of Barcelo Hotels and Resorts, where he optimized operational and organizational procedures across Europe. In 2009, he came to Latin America as head of Iberostar Hotels and Resorts in Mexico, where he oversaw ten resorts in the region (4,000 rooms and 4,500 employees).

More recently, he served as senior vice president, operations, for Blue Diamond Resorts, participating in the extensive growth and development of that company. Solé holds an MBA from IESE Business School and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona, Spain.

Tip of the Day

As an industry, we are selling experiences and travel. What better connection can we make than suitcases for children? I want to put a call out to fellow advisors to find out who runs the foster care in their community and ask them to collect luggage, book bags, toiletries and such from their clients.
