The Jerusalem Conventions & Visitors Bureau recently hosted its first-ever travel agent fam trip, accommodating U.S. travel agents.
Forty five travel agents from around the world recently participated in the Jerusalem Convention and Visitors Bureau’s first ever Fam trip.
Agents from the United States and Canada joined colleagues from 15 other countries, meeting with top local officials, including the Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Ministry of Tourism CEO Amir Halevy, Ministry for Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs CEO Sarit Goldstein, and Tourism Director of Jerusalem Development Ilanit Melchior.
They also met with top Israeli business executives, and participated in a walking tour of the Old City and a Segway tour in the New City. They visited Jerusalem’s top tourist destinations, like the Israel Museum and the Pais Arena, business community hubs, historic landmarks and medicine/biotech research centers.
The agents were hosted at the 283-room Inbal Jerusalem Hotel, in the heart of the city overlooking the Old City walls.
Tourism to Jerusalem is off 4% through the first four months of the year. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics in Israel, 908,500 tourists entered Israel in the first four months of the year, vs. 945,600 thousand tourists during the first four months of 2015.
While a variety of organizations have hosted fams to Jerusalem, this was the first organized by the CVB, a spokeswoman for the Inbal hotel said.
