Viking Cruises is adding a new cruise and tour combination built around the Oberammergau Passion Play in 2020.
Viking will join a host of other operators with its own 10-day journey that will combine a sailing on the Danube on the 190-guest Viking Longship with a number of land tours. The tour will go from Munich to Budapest from May through October 2020, each one centered around the 42nd installment of the Passion Play.
In addition to The Oberammergau stop, the Bavarian hamlet that transforms itself into a stage for the “Passion of Christ,” depicting the life and death of Jesus Christ, performed by local residents, the tour will also include a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Passau, a Mozart and Strauss Concert in Vienna, an exploration of Nuremberg, and a stop at Budapest’s Thermal Baths.
Bookings are now open. Viking is also offering two-for-one on its Passion Play itinerary from now through June 30, 2018.
With the announcement, Viking joins a host of other suppliers in offering Passion Play itineraries. Tauck, Trafalgar Tours, Uniworld, Insight Vacations, Globus, Tauck and Collette have all announced tours to Oberammergau.
