After a delay of several months, Seabourn finally took delivery of Seabourn Venture, its first purpose-build luxury expedition ship, at a maritime ceremony at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Venture is the first of two luxury expedition ships the line has ordered.

“Today is incredibly special and important as we take ownership of our first ultra-luxury expedition ship and welcome Seabourn Venture to the Seabourn family,” said Seabourn president Josh Leibowitz. “The Mariotti team has done a wonderful job in the building of the ship and bringing Adam Tihany’s stunning vision to life. Seabourn Venture will raise the bar in ultra-luxury expedition travel, and we look forward to introducing her to the world as she sets sail to explore remote destinations from the Polar regions in the Arctic to the southernmost continent of Antarctica.”

The 132-suite Seabourn Venture was designed and built to PC6 Polar Class standards, making it suitable for sailing in Polar regions, as well as more temperate climates. Highlights include a 26-person expedition team of scientists, scholars, naturalists and others, along with Zodiacs, scuba and snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and two custom-built submersibles. Included activities include Zodiac cruising, hikes, nature walks, scuba diving, and snorkeling.
