Air Canada Adds Two Popular Destinations, Five New Routes
by Briana Bonfiglio /Air Canada is adding two trending destinations and five new routes, as well as expanding service on several popular flights.
Beginning summer 2024, the airline will fly to Tulum, Mexico, and Charleston, South Carolina, making it the first Canadian airline to fly to these two popular destinations. Air Canada is also adding new flights from Montreal to Austin and St. Louis (it already has flights from Toronto and Vancouver to Austin and from Toronto to St. Louis), increasing the frequency of some of its domestic flights, and resuming some of its most popular seasonal flights early.
“These new destinations and routes reflect Air Canada’s market leadership and network diversification strategy of adding capacity to in-demand leisure destinations such as Tulum and fast-growing, key metropolitan areas in the U.S.,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice president for revenue and network planning at Air Canada. “By adding scale to our Canadian hubs, we are offering more travel choices and unparalleled access to and from our worldwide network. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard.”
Air Canada is introducing flights from Montreal and Toronto to Mexico’s newest international airport in Tulum. It will also have flights between Toronto and Charleston.
“I celebrate this great announcement from Air Canada,” said Lic. Miguel Torruco Marqués, Mexico’s tourism secretary. “Without connectivity there is no tourism, and the two new routes to the new Tulum International Airport, which is ready to receive 5 million passengers, will boost the arrival of tourists from our second most important source market for international tourists.”
Recently, other airlines such as Delta, American, and Spirit have announced that they will also fly to Tulum International Airport starting in 2024. Flights to Tulum through Air Canada will be available for purchase starting Dec. 15.
In addition, due to an expected increase in demand, Air Canada will increase the number of flights to domestic destinations, such as Ottawa, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina, as well as to popular U.S. cities such as Las Vegas, Boston, Minneapolis, Pheonix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego, and Sacramento.
