Sabre and Air India announced this week that the two have signed a new multi-year distribution agreement that will make Air India’s content available for Sabre’s users starting on May 4.

In a news release this week, Air India said that the move is part of its expansion plans that includes the biggest aircraft order in aviation history for 470 aircraft. It also said that the move is a testament to a new chapter in Sabre’s commitment to the Indian travel market.

“The Indian travel market is back, and it’s coming back strong,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, Air India. “So, we’re delighted to have re-established, and enhanced, our relationship with Sabre at this transformative time for Air India, and the wider Indian travel marketplace. This long-term global distribution partnership will support our ambitious growth plans while paving the ground for our transition towards a more dynamic, merchandising-focused model, designed to unlock the value of Air India’s products and services.”

Earlier this year, India was expected to surpass China as the world’s most populous nation at 1.416 billion, a few million more than China. The Tata Group, which took full control of Air India and its subsidiaries in 2022, expects the demand for air travel from the Indian population to continue to increase as the country, and its diaspora, continues to grow.
