Travel + Leisure Editor Resigns

by Kerry Tice / October 09, 2018

Travel & Leisure’s editor-in-chief Nathan Lump resigned Friday in the midst of a major reorganization by Meredith Corp, which last year acquired Time Inc. for $2.8 billion. Lump also served as editorial director of Food + Wine, Cooking Light, and Departures.

Lump will step down from his roles at the close of the magazine’s December issue. In a statement issued by Meredith, the company said in 2014 Lump was given the responsibility of modernizing T&L’s print product and growing its digital presence, adding that he “more than attained these goals.”

Under Lump’s direction, T&L had a 55 percent advertising share of the market in a category that includes Condé Nast Travel and National Geographic Traveler.

Lump said while it was tough to leave, he is looking forward to new opportunities. “It has been a dream to lead T&L [and] now feels like the right time for me to stretch myself professionally in new ways.”
