Selling Travel Insurance Builds Client Loyalty
by Dori Saltzman /More than fifty percent of travelers who purchased an Allianz travel insurance policy through travel advisors reported that their experience with the insurance company would make them more likely to book their next trip with the same advisor. This is according to a survey of more than 2,800 Allianz Partners customers who purchased a travel insurance policy and traveled between July 2022 and March 2023.
The survey also found that cruisers are big insurance customers, with more than 33% of respondents who purchased a policy saying they were taking a cruise. And 75% of these, said they would book a cruise again in the future after cruising with insurance.
“Travel advisors who take the time to educate their clients about the benefits of protecting their trips are undoubtedly playing a crucial role in the rebound of the cruise industry,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA. “Travel insurance is helping drive loyalty to travel advisors, who can help guide their clients to experience all of the varied options that the cruise industry has to offer, including fast-growing expedition cruising.”
Regarding expedition cruising, the Allianz survey found that among the 33% of respondents who have been on a cruise, 22% have been on an expedition cruise. Eighty percent of these are between the ages of 55 and 84 years old.
More importantly, 74% of those who have cruised before (but not on an expedition) said they would consider booking one in the future.
