River cruise line AmaWaterways is expanding its Egypt offering, adding a second ship to the Nile River in 2024.

The ship, currently under construction, will be named AmaLilia after Egypt’s blue water lily flower. The line, which just wrapped up its 2022 Nile season on AmaDahlia, says the addition will help it meet a growing demand for Egypt sailings.

“It is incredibly exciting to be able to expand our river cruise offerings on the legendary Nile River with AmaLilia, which will be another stunning, intimate ship,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-founder of AmaWaterways.

“Egypt is one of the most fascinating destinations in the world and we’ve seen such wonderful interest from both our loyal guests as well as new guests since we launched our first ship there in September 2021. We look forward to welcoming even more travelers to join us to experience the ancient wonders of Egypt!”

AmaLilia will sail the 11-night secrets of Egypt & Nile itinerary that includes a 7-night round-trip cruise from Luxor along with three-nights pre- and one-night post-cruise in Cairo. The itinerary includes stops at iconic Egyptian landmarks including the Great Hypostyle Hall of Karnak, the Temple of Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the Egyptian Museum, three Pyramids of Giza, and more.

The line originally launched AmaDahlia on the Nile in 2021. That ship, which is a sister-ship to the new AmaLilia, sails with 68 guests in 34 staterooms (24 of which will feature balcony suites up to 430 square feet), a sun deck bar and swimming pool, fitness room, hair and nail salon, and two restaurants (AmaWaterways’ signature The Main Restaurant and The Chef’s Table) onboard.
