According to reports, Celebrity Cruises will begin charging higher gratuities, up $1 from 2019, starting on Jan. 6.
The new gratuities, which are automatic for all guests, will start at $15.50 per person, per day for those in standard cabins (up from $14.50); $16 per person, per day for Concierge Class and AquaClass guests (up from $15); and $19 per person, per day for suite guests (up from $18), according to Cruise Critic.
Those who have sailings booked with Celebrity are able to pre-pay by Jan. 5 to lock in the previous rates. All guests have the option of increasing or decreasing the amount they pay in gratuities by going to the guest relations desk during their sailing.
According to Celebrity, the charge “is shared by your stateroom attendant, dining services staff, and housekeeping staff members who help enhance your vacation experience.” Aside from the daily gratuity, a 20% gratuity is added to all beverage, mini-bar, spa, and salon purchases.
Celebrity last raised gratuities one year ago when it also bumped the charges $1 for guests in all stateroom categories.
