Celebrity Cruises continues to be full steam ahead with its pandemic restart.

Celebrity on Sunday saw Equinox once again welcome guests in Ft. Lauderdale for a Caribbean sailing, the eighth of the brand’s ships to restart in the last eight weeks, a streak that started with Celebrity Millennium on June 5.

That came just a few days after Celebrity had restarted other ships, including Celebrity Millennium in Alaska and Celebrity Expedition in the Galapagos.

“With each new ship that goes in the water, I’m overwhelmed by the palpable sense of reconnection on board for both our guests and our crew – with each other, their families, and the world,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

“Being together, again, and absorbing the beauty around us is what we’ve all dreamt about for over a year, and now it’s really wonderful to be a part of our guests’ aspirations to travel again.”

The sailing marked the first time Equinox is sailing after its turn in Celebrity’s fleet-wide modernization program called Celebrity Revolution. The ship is now debuting with new designs on board, including The Retreat, Celebrity’s ship-within-a-ship concept that offers suite guests a private sundeck and lounge.

Celebrity continues to sail with its own set of health and safety protocols that requires all crew and all guests aged 16-years or older to be vaccinated, a requirement that changes to 12-years and older starting on Aug. 1. That requirement is in place everywhere except for Florida, where vaccinations cannot be required but are “strongly recommended.”
