Effective immediately, J.D. O’Hara, the President of Travel Leaders Group, is taking over as CEO of the same organization following the resignation of current CEO Ninan Chacko.
In a statement, Travel Leaders said that Chaco is leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities and O’Hara, who has worked closely with Chacko over the past year, will take on both CEO and President duties.
“Our focus will be on continuing to excel at what has made Travel Leaders Group great, providing impeccable service to our travelers, the highest quality support and tools to our travel advisors and unsurpassed value to our preferred supplier partners,” he said.
O’Hara spent six years with Travel Leaders, including time as the group’s senior vice president, until Jan. 2014. He left to serve as president of Tzell Travel Group before leaving to be a senior partner at Certares, a financial service company, in 2015. He served on Travel Leaders’ board of directors during that time before returning as president in December 2018.
Since rejoining, he’s been overseeing the group’s operations, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning. In his new role, he will take on oversight of the group’s finance, information technology, supplier relations, human resources, marketing and legal departments, as well as the executive leadership team.
“I am extremely grateful and excited about the tremendous opportunity to lead such a talented team of professionals and world-class travel advisors. This company has grown to become an industry powerhouse over the last decade and I look forward to our continued evolution as an industry leader,” O’Hara said.
